Half of the zoo is celebrating tonight, safely stowed from the threat of wind storms. Some of you will remember the one we thought killed the dinosaur, before Mike fixed his lights and I stitched him up. Outside, there is still a display, just less. :)

Cold but beautiful night for a walk. Most of my route is too dark for snapshots, so I did a zoo tour instead!

I recognize the irony of listening to Jimmy Buffet's "Holiday" while working on a Sunday, but inventory from RUAG is selling! Plus, it's a lovely day for Tiggy and I to be out. (Picture is the view from the Golden post office)

Another one bites the dust. *Sigh* this is why I have so many mismatched wine glasses. I love blue glass. I had bought a set of blue wine glasses at Target, of which there is only one left. So, a few (?) years ago, my hubby bought me a new set for my birthday. Now there is only one of those left. Can I make the two single blue wine glasses last until May? ;)

My inner demon is showing this morning. ;) Just kidding. Had my eyes dilated for my annual eye doctor appointment. Still see 20/15 distance and everything looks good. He thinks my eye strain from my reading glasses is due to changes in my computer setup, so I have "homework" to take all new measurements. I think the last time I did that was when I worked on P992.

After Christmas dinner, Mike and I were still busy! We stopped by our neighbor's party (yummy - gumbo!) and then headed downtown for the Nuggets game. Mike laughed that I always forget the ending to Super Mascot Rockie's annual "Nutcracker" show. And I liked the Christmas shoes one of the Nuggets had on. :) Always nice to spend time with my hubby.

Once upon a time, our family used to do an adult ornament exchange for Christmas. I got the fancy chicken. I was appalled at it, which @[599583184:2048:Schlep Schlep] thought was hilarious! The fancy chicken somehow met its demise. But he said not to worry...and bought me a replacement and made me promise I would account for its continued safety each year. ;)
Almost done with the tree! Mostly just our annual ornaments and the ones Grandma Buzzo made are left. This year's annual ornaments are some key chains I got in Japan, including Totoro from our Studio Gibli tour. Cirrus and Muggins make an appearance on the tree, as well as Chloe. :( *Sniff* And yes, Schlep Schlep, the fancy chicken is accounted for.

Mike came in the study and started to laugh. Sounded like the sugar coated version was that I look so much like a middle aged New Yorker. Just sitting here working on slides. I always feel a bit chilly after lunch. He refused to take a picture....but I did remind him that I am a middle-aged New Yorker! ;)

Sometimes, ya just got to get back to your roots. My company used to have an office in Santa Clara. Besides project management and business development, one of my side projects has been taking inventory for everything that was shipped to the Denver office from Santa Clara. Piles and piles of test equipment, electronics components, RF components, microwave stuff. I need to finish entering all my notes into the inventory spreadsheet and send it to accounting by COB today. As one might imagine, I have been....um, procrastinating. ;) So, I went with the tried and true "metal in the morning". Bad religion, Therapy, Soil Work, and now Slayer. 194 items entered and 75 to go. The full project has 436 line items. Almost there.... :)

New wreath! Our neighbor's son was selling them for a school fundraiser.
Feeling sentimental so it's story time. :) While in the physics department at Mines, I joined the Society of Physics students. We took a trip to New Mexico - Los Alamos National Labs, the Rio Grande, and just outside of the National Radio Astronomy Observatory's (NRAO) Very Large Array (VLA) in Socorro....the antennas Jody Foster is sitting near in the movie "Contact". We didn't have time to see the VLA, so I decided to get back there someday. Twenty years later... literally, ouch...through LinkedIn, I got the opportunity to teach a class on Project Management at NRAO in Socorro. My fee? Hotel cost plus a private tour for me and my hubby at the VLA. (which was awesome!!! They even moved one of the antennas for us since they were done taking data). I got back to Ball and sone of my friends were like "what? How come I didn't get invited to your class?" .....and that turned into the book that I published. The PMI Mile Hi chapter gave me more opportunities to speak, and that turned into a goal to be selected as one of the Symposium Speakers. And tonight, I submitted the slides and handout materials for my workshop at the February 20, 2020 (02 20 2020... :) ) PMI Mile Hi Symposium. Quite the journey :) :) :)

This recipe always makes way more than the two of us can eat. If anyone local wants some, let me know!

This is the first time I am doing a litter replacement on Ziggy's boxes since she joined us on Nov 11. The first one was met with absolute panic. The snow is up to my knees (hey - no short jokes! ;) ) and it is still snowing. I am out clearing the front walk and I freed the tank. Mike will take it out once the snow slows down. We rarely need it, but when we do .... And yes, I freed it from the stuff

Love the nook!
My mom did not like my idea of a picture outside by the sign (she's the bundle to the far right in the first picture), so we explored the newly remodeled concert hall. My first question was "Where did the rest of it go?" Seems to be a quarter the size, but I like the upstairs bar. It reminded me of when my hubby and I went to a bar called "Angel's Share" in NYC. I could have spent a whole winter looking out that window. :)

What a fantastic day! Our neighbor gave us a ton of bagels last night, so I went with Mike's recommendation to bring them into work. They were much appreciated. Everything was smooth sailing at work, and then I went to the PMI board meeting. The main topic was the review and approval of the 2020 budget. The picture is of me out in a light rain waiting to transfer the treasurer box of master records to the next VP. Don't tell James... He was joking that I wasn't allowed to be so happy to be on my second to last board meeting. ;) The budget was updated without issues or action items and it passed! Then we had amazing Indian food for dinner - Krishna, our chapter president, knows the restaurant owner. Looking forward to the leftovers! After that, I went to Balistreri Vineyard to pick up the wine we ordered at the spring barrel tasting. My bartender was the winemaker, John Balistreri. And there was more tasty food! And then I came home to a snuggly cat and my Arbonne box! Perfect timing - I ran out of RE9 night cream last night. :)

Plasma physics, quantum mechanics, pizza, milk chocolate truffles, and surprisingly expensive Italian wine. Yes, I was with my people. ;) After my poster session and a telecon for work , I went to the annual Mines "Physicsfest". I still remember the old Meyer hall fondly, but the new building that stands in its place is starting to feel more like "home". As a dubious honor, I was invited to sit at the "old table" with two of my former professors. I thought that merited one more glass of wine. :) The student posters were great, and I always enjoy giving them more to think about, like "are you familiar with Fourier optics for holograms? It's similar to what you're working on." And I was super happy when I asked one of them "Are you going to calculate MTF from this?" (Modulation transfer function) and he said yes! Right answer! :)

My parents met Ziggy tonight! Overall, it went quite well. She was too smart for my mom's treat trail to get her closer trick. We laughed when, after progressively moving closer to my mom while following that treat trail, Ziggy stretched her paw out to pull the treat closest to my mom away from her. And my dad didn't mind the swipe Ziggy took at him when she got tired of being snuggly. Her behavior had him reminiscing about my cat from high school, dear sweet temperamental Smoeky. :)

Full morning! After hanging out with my cousin and her adorable dog (seriously, I don't think I have met anyone else do ecstatic to be at my house!), I drove up to the Grange in Golden Gate Canyon. Had to laugh - Mary didn't recognize me because I "look like a little kid". Perspectives change with age... At 24, I would have been upset cause I totally don't and at 44, I'm like "Sweet!!" ;) I didn't know she had written a trilogy! Got some lovely cards to send out from Barb and a cool postcard of a "Golden Gate Canyon traffic jam" - old picture of covered wagons going up the canyon.

She laughed. ;) Tiggy finally got his turn, and I even tried to clean whatever that was off the inside of the windshield.

Pausing for a melancholy moment. :) I just sent out the final transition list for my board of directors position with the PMI Mile Hi chapter. We have a lot of ground to cover still between now and the end of the year (and some taxes support in January),
but the final list actually **exists**. It's surreal. I have big exciting things planned for 2020 and I am super grateful my backfill, Joe, is helping me get the time in my schedule that I need to execute those things. But still, the end of a chapter always gives rise to a moment of quiet reflection....the board has been a very worthwhile experience.

Was it good news? We should know this week. I applied to speak at the PMI Symposium in February (1 hour workshop, usually 200-300 people per workshop, 1700 in attendance overall). I have made the final round for selections and had a 6 minute interview today. 6 minutes? Was that it? I had actually blocked out an hour in my schedule today just in case... Did I make it? She said the selection committee will announce the speaker list later this week. *fingers crossed*

This morning, I conducted a 3 1/2 hour workshop on risk management for the PMI Mile Hi chapter. Great group! Lots of good questions and interactions. :)
When I started doing Arbonne, I didn't realize one of the side benefits would be meeting people! Lovely time talking with neighbors this evening! I also met a gray cat who was about ready to come home with me... I think he realized I am very sentimental about gray cats right now.... I can't believe it took it me a year to go visit the street to the east of us. Looking forward to seeing some of them at the Arbonne open house tomorrow and the 26th! :) :) :)

Matching shoes!
Long but productive day at work - our office completed our first Sprint planning! (Agile development) Went to the Nuggets game with my hubby. Always love spending an evening with him, but oy vey... definitely pre-season. And we left early since he wasn't feeling well. As we walked out of the Pepsi Center, the parking lot was eerily quiet. I told Mike, "wow, you can hardly tell there is a football game happening over there" and he said "By some definitions, there isn't"
zzzzz. Done working for the day. I think the jet lag is definitely catching up with me.

Part 6: End of my business trip bro Sweden: Friday was my last day in the office. A little rainy but the weather was still nice. We had an outbrief of the week's activities and a little party with cinnamon rolls and danishes. Saturday, our flight left at 6:20 am, which meant leaving the hotel at 4:40 am. Smooth flight back to Frankfurt, and it was sunny there this time! Loved having my upgrade to business class. Got some much needed sleep on the flight. Our waitress brought over a waitress who had come from the Bergen location - I think she was disappointed that I didn't speak Norwegian followed by being confused as to why Mike and I were in Bergen in February. ;) I finally got a picture of the creepy kids with their dead backpacks on the way back to the hotel.

The team in Goteborg reserved an office for each of us to use, which was super nice. They have a lovely view of the city and cool sample products in the coffee area - one of which is the on board computer from a rocket that exploded.... and the power board even still worked after it was retrieved from the swamp. I believe that proves our products meet durability requirements. ;)

Home from my first international business trip! The sun is so bright here... ;) We actually had wonderful weather and Goteborg reminded me a lot of Long Island, so I was immediately comfortable. Mike said he is definitely coming on the next trip. Here are pictures from the trip out last Saturday. The rain was in Frankfurt, at our connecting flight. I say "our" because I went with 2 other people from my office.
Happy 26 years of together-ness to my hubby! It all started with dinner at the T-Wa Inn on October 11, 1993, after we met on March 11, 1993 ....and we like to say we do things in 11's, since we got married on July 11, 1998. :) Our closing for our new house was on Sept 11 last year and October 11 was moving day, so the 11's continue! Looking forward to celebrating after I get home from business travel.

Many thanks to Chris Chamberlin for financial planning session #2 today! I have been resistant (ok, very very resistant) to the idea of any outside help with my retirement planning. Why? Apparently no good reason. Today's session was very useful and we are on a good track for addressing some of my concerns about both longevity planning and "what if I had to retire early due to unforeseen circumstances" planning. :) Looking forward to the next meeting!
OEDIT reviews are done! I am honored to volunteer for the Colorado State Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT). Twice a year, I review grant applications for small businesses seeking state funding. Lots of fun! There were a couple of good ones in this batch - hoping to see them in the final review at the full committee meeting! (I will miss the subcommittee meeting due to business travel to Sweden... I know, choices... life is hard ;) )

Great to spend time with my niece, Valerie, today. Heading to JoJo's house gave us 40 minutes in the car each way to talk. 11 years old is an interesting age. She said that she wants to become a 2nd grade teacher. I asked her what made her decide on second grade. She said she thought it would be fun to help kids get started at that age since they are just really getting into reading and math. She also said that, with where she is in school right now, she would be comfortable teaching second grade. I told her to remember that by the time she could work as a teacher, she will have completed all the grades, so she can teach anything! She hadn't thought of that. Turns out the inspiration for her idea is work her mom did back in the day. :)

Fantastic Arbonne event! What is amazing about Arbonne is that it's so much more than just selling stuff. When you join the team, you're not a lone consultant, but part of a positive and supportive nationwide network. We don't compete with each other - there's no reason to, since there is no limit on promotions and other benefits. You get out what you put in. Today was the first time I had the pleasure of doing a product demo for one of my teammate's clients, since she wasn't able to be there. It was fun! Quite frankly, the healthy living set has really helped me tolerate my metformin better, and I am happy to share with anyone what parts of the product line I found helpful. :)

I have been joking about coming home with an armload of cats. Last night, the prophecy came true - but they were art cats. We attended the Cat Care Society's "Tails of Painted Cats" event with Grandma Kitty and Auntie Linda. Lots of money was raised for important shelter programs. They are continuing to work on new programs like temporary care and other support to help people keep their cats rather than give them up due to money, health, or other issues.

wow, hmmm - seeing all the pictures of the towers posted always gets me, but my inner New Yorker is showing more than normal tonight... so you get a story. Growing up, the towers were always my favorite part of the skyline. They stood out as something different and the geek in me marveled at all the communications equipment on top. Like seriously, it was the first thing I focused on whenever I saw them. In 2001, we were living in Los Angeles and I worked in a Hughes Aircraft-turned-Raytheon building not too far from LAX. I was the program manager on a research and development program that was undergoing negotiations for a second phase of the contract. I had recently taken over the program when the prior manager stepped down and was trying to pull a rabbit out of a hat when it came to keeping the program afloat. The govt reps had been complaining incessantly that our proposal updates were late. So, I went into work really early (west coast time) and worked and worked and worked in the concrete bunker with no access to the outside world that was my office until I got it emailed over to our contracts manager. He came to my office and said "Thanks for that - I will send it, but I don't think anyone will be reading it today." If you know me well, you know I can get incredulous when sleepy "They've been harassing me about it every day! Why not?" and then he just looked at me with such sympathy and said "you probably should head home but hold on a sec". He brought me his am radio and headsets... what I heard was so surreal it might have been a recast of The War of the Worlds. Just then, I got an email blast from the company offering a paid day off to anyone who felt personally affected. I went home not knowing what to think. My hubby had the TV on but I couldn't watch. I tried to call my parents on Long Island. call could not be completed... of course it couldn't - most of the comms equipment had been on the towers. I tried over and over again, and then I emailed. I got an email back from my dad happily announcing that he had told my mom I would email when I couldn't call. Turns out she had been worried sick that LAX would be next and I was too close. She was happy I was home. My brother was in the city at the time but unable to get home due to the chaos. He was ok. And so began the tally of trying to figure out who was ok and who wasn't, all the stories of people who were supposed to be somewhere that was destroyed but somehow weren't, and all the stories of people who were right in harm's way. And the stories of people who selflessly went into harm's way to help. Hard to believe it was so long ago. Sending love, comfort, and my tears to whomever needs them. :(

Great evening with the PMI Mile Hi Chapter meeting in Loveland! New job, better habits! Since my new job at Ruag Space will let me work a couple of days a week from home, I promised myself that any workday I am not commuting is a workday where I will work out - and that started today! While I was working out, I was thinking about Arbonne. I am really really happy with the brightening eye cream. (The only reason I am not smiling in the first picture is to keep my cherub cheeks out of the way!) It has really made a dent in my dark circles. Jury is still out on the neck cream. Arbonne products all come with a 45-day money back guarantee because it usually takes at least 3 weeks to start seeing true effects. :) Will keep you posted!

Ryu, guard cat. He has been guarding me for the last month. Sure, there are all sorts of scary sounds from the vent cleaning, but duty calls.
I woke up this morning, looked up at the skylight and thought for a moment it was snowing. Couple more months before I get that view! The year has been going by quickly, but not that quickly. ;) My mind was a million miles away because it has been a long and tiring week. For work, I covered for a lot of people, while doing 3 interviews for a new adventure, training a new contractor for PMI (Project Management Institute local chapter. I have been volunteering on the board of directors for the last 2 years) working on the transition for another PMI contractor, training new PMI team members, and.... I made the decision to resign from the PMI board at the end of this year. Many thanks to my hubby, brother, and coach for the encouragement and support. It wasn't an easy decision, since I have enjoyed being a part of the organization for almost 7 years, but I need those hours for other pursuits. Very glad to have today off from work!

What a fun evening! Thank you to Mandie for helping me with my check in desk kerfuffle, thank you to Jojo for all your help and guidance getting me to my first Arbonne promotion and bonus, and thank you to Jojo and Amanda for all the fantastic gifts! (And no roses!) Here I am hanging out just outside the Arbonne meeting tonight after all the roses in the room gave me an asthma attack and afterwards loaded with gifts. I love working with you guys!

Ryu is taking the day off! Earlier, he finally caught the green dot - smushed it and it disappeared. Victory! The purple dot remains at large, but that is a battle for another day.
Today, I am grateful for German air conditioning. :) Finished the weeding at my parents' house, but it's gotten quite toasty outside. Tiggy (the VW Tiguan) has the best air conditioning of any car I have had.

I gave Ryu dinner under the bed, where he was hiding from the storm. There seems to be a protest in the kitchen. Mike said that, apparently, dinner under the bed doesn't count as dinner.
And that's a wrap! @[1304241642:2048:Jojo] and her daughter Talya just went running out into the storm! Many thanks to everyone who helped kick off my Arbonne adventure today!

Ryu update: Catsitting is going well. Ryu gets his steps in by following me around the house. He is part border collie ;) - patrol, patrol, patrol. I think we will have ruts in the carpet by the time the month stay is over. He spent a few hours patrolling every corner of the basement today. He likes to sit on the carpet by the kitchen door, sleeps under the bed, and guards us at night by flopping in the middle of the bedroom floor, vigilantly watching the door. He joined Mike on the couch to play Borderlands with Tim. The balcony is still his favorite spot...

It's the beginning of a new kind of adventure! After almost 10 years of thinking about it (seriously, @[1304241642:2048:Jojo] can vouch for that....), I have become an Arbonne consultant. I am looking forward to helping people connect with their high quality products! Getting started is a little daunting, but I am grateful for Jojo's guidance and the awesome team I am working with. :) If you are interested in buying or selling Arbonne products (even if you aren't in Colorado!! ), let me know! Thanks for your support!

Loved my 4-day weekend! Spent a lot of quality time with my hubby - will miss seeing him so much when I go back to work. Also, had a fabulous dinner with Diana Mann and Nathan on Friday, thanks go to Mike Rawluk for his help at our parents' house today, and many thanks to Jojo for helping me get started on a new adventure! (Details to come) Here are the rest of the fire pictures. I second my hubby's thoughts - "I could do this every night." We saw satellites, looked up new constellations (our chairs point south at this house; whereas, we used to look north at the old house), and I love the "northern lights" effect from my broken camera lens. :)

During my evening walk, I disappointed some farm critters. All the chickens came running to the fence to greet me, and the goat stuck it's head out of the house. Sadly, I was not carrying their dinner.

My parents brought by some pretty flowers for Muggins. They look great with the picture we received. And we were laughing because we always said Muggins said, "I am not a flower" because I used to refer to him as a delicate flower, and he would look into my eyes sternly whenever I did so. (Did the same when I would call him "my Muggin", leading to the joke that I had a lot of trouble with his name and needed to be reminded "I am not plural.")

What do you do for a broken rib?" "You would know if it was broken" "I know! I am definitely sure" "I think this is a sign you should be doing sit-ups more often".... ) Anyhow, I am glad to be excelling at "other"! :)

:( this afternoon, we said goodbye to the sweetest little guy. Muggins will be so missed.. .. thanks to Rannae Sanders Lyon, Maddie, Hannah and Valerie for the visit. Muggins was born on May 26, 2000 in Big Thompson canyon. He was one of six kittens who Hank and Harriet Galasso rescued from living life as feral cats. (That's why we know his exact birthday.) The six siblings grew up together. Sadly, their house was destroyed in the 2013 floods. The siblings were alone in the house for 10 days, with a bag of food a neighbor had left for them before being evacuated. When they were rescued, one if the sisters didn't make it. The other 5 found Suellen Scott at the Cat Care Society. She looked after them for almost a year, before the 3 brothers were adopted by us and the two sisters went to a different home. And that began the story of Muggins, Cirrus, and Braveheart with us. It's a story that you don't have to look too far to find many pictures of. ;) Today was the last page in the last chapter of that story, and we're grateful to have had them in our lives.

My little Muggin....so sweet, so loving. Many thanks to @[100001847848825:2048:Suellen Scott] for visiting today! Sounds like he really enjoyed the company. Day 4 of refusing to eat, but we have one last thing to try. The blood tests came back to say his kidneys have worsened since he was there in January, but no kidney failure. His thyroid has gone from overactive to slightly underactive, so we are cutting back on his medication. And we picked up his new blood pressure medication tonight. Mike is trying to keep me from despairing over the whole thing. He is cautiously optimistic.

I forgot to finish the story of the April road trip! May has been a busy month.....When we left off, Mike and I had travelled to Phoenix for his conference, and took some time off on Monday,April 22 to go to Tucson. Tuesday, Mike presented at the conference and there was a large group dinner - lots of fun! (I spent the day catching up on stuff) Wednesday, April 24: Mike's undergraduate student, Anyka, presented her first conference paper. She talked too fast (normal for a first presentation) but did a great job! We went out to lunch with she and Mike's boss, Ryan, to celebrate. :)

Anyone need some pebbles? No, seriously.... ,( Update: the pebbles have been claimed!) :) Plants along the front walk are done! I have been enjoying looking at our neighbor's dogwood tree in between shoveling spurts. Clearing the area for a 6x12 shed that we will get in June. It needs to be level within 6 inches, so I am hoping that the spot we have is close enough after I remove all the pebbles.

Road trip Day 4: Easter! We had celebrated "Early Easter" on April 6 with our families, knowing we would be out of town. It made the month very surreal because the celebration really did feel like Easter, to the point where Mike had seen a commercial for chocolate and wondered why they were spending advertising $s to rerun commercials for something that had passed. ;) We ate way too much on Easter! We started with a wonderful breakfast at "The Breakfast Club" - I had blue corn pancakes with icing and wild berry butter, and Mike had biscuits and gravy with homemade gravy that he really really enjoyed. Mike spent some time working on his conference presentation and I, like a parrot, was pretty pleased to discover that I could see my reflection in the building across the street. Mike verified by moving my arm around. :) For dinner, we went a neat little steak place. They had the candles with the best flicker technology we had seen - video posted. There is a flat piece on a motor that moves around to better simulate a flame.

Road trip, end of Day 3: After we saw the meteor crater, we headed to Phoenix, where Mike would attend a conference and I would get some down time. Love the road in - because I love Saguaros!! I probably almost drove off the road in 1997 trying to catch a few pictures while following Mike in the moving truck. What I especially love about Saguaro cacti is their individuality - every one is different, like little aliens along the road. We arrived in Phoenix, and checked into our hotel. We had dinner at In-n-Out burger and said hello to the pigeon there.

Mike was quite busy today ... He got everything prepped for the windows project. Our new windows will be installed Monday - Wednesday. While not enamored with the cost of new windows, we are very much looking forward to having windows with good seals that help to filter out the heat from our desert sun. The current ones don't, and there's a lot of them!

Had a great day yesterday! It was the exciting conclusion of this spring's work with the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT). I am on the Advanced Industries Grant Committee. Leading up to yesterday's event, Colorado small businesses submitted applications to the state to propose uses of state grants that would help accelerate the development of their businesses. We reviewed them individually, met as the aerospace subcommittee to rank all the applications and move some of them forward to the full committee meeting. Yesterday, all 7 subcommittees met to hear presentations from the 21 finalists and voted on who would receive funding. When the state releases the results in a couple of weeks, there are going to be a lot of happy people! Many of the companies funded in the past have really grown - keeping my fingers crossed for this group!

Back to the road trip: at the end of Day 1, we arrived in Los Alamos. My favorite view of all time is the cliffs just outside of Los Alamos during the golden hour in the evening. So pretty! We had dinner at an Italian restaurant that used to be a different restaurant back when we went to Los Alamos for my interview at the lab in 2002. We discussed how different that fork in the road would have made things - or would it? It's a philosophical question on whether one has a path to walk and deviations are just minor detours that lead back to the main path. And I added to my collection of sideways videos - oops. You get the idea of the road up "The Hill"

It was a plant afternoon! I lost one of the succulents in our house warming planter - I didn't realize it was root bound. Larger pot plus one rescue from the clearance rack are now happily in the kitchen. And there's more! I picked up some perennials for along our front walk. They are living the high Life - can't plant them yet because it is supposed to snow on Monday. I figured they would have as much trouble sitting outside at Lowe's as they would planted, so I brought them home. It's good that House #2 can have an edition of "Irises don't care"

From Maddie, Hannah, and Val walking up to the house with their heads down and eyes shaded so they couldn't get a pre-look at the Easter egg hunt to Troy's victory dance when he found the last egg outside that all the older kids swore didn't exist, it was quite an enthusiastic party! Cirrus enjoyed his birthday card, which I read to him after lunch.
It says:
"Cirrus, It was a stormy day in Oct 2013. Frances {their dad} was on one coast (CA) and I was on the other (NJ). There was a flood in Big Tompson Canyon. Thankfully, you and your siblings were rescued and taken to your vet in Loveland.
I will never forget the first time I saw you. I held each of you, showered you with Kitty Kisses and told you, you were safe and daddy loves you.
It was the best year of my life, spending it with the five of you. Wonderful new parents to take you home, and the same for your sisters. It almost killed me to love Braveheart and Ohms. They are waiting for us at the rainbow bridge.
Love you always, Suellen"

Fun afternoon! Family lunch at On the Border followed by an early birthday present for Miss Valerie - her first phone!
9/80 day, 9/80 day, 9/80 day! Tomorrow is my 9/80 day!
9/80 is a work schedule where you get every other Friday off... and yes, I am excited. 22 years ago I started working with Hughes Aircraft. They offered a 9/80 schedule and I was like "that is so cool!" ... but they also cautioned that if my team was working, I needed to be around, so phooey. It didn't work out. Then they got bought by Raytheon, who also offered a 9/80 schedule, but well.... as a middle manager, you can guess what happened to my grand plans for 9/80. And so it went - year by year, company by company - my elusive dream of having every other Friday off. Until now. The project I work on is piloting 9/80 for everyone, so no funny business and no caveats.... I finally get my first 9/80 day tomorrow! I sure hope it is everything I dreamed it would be, since I have been waiting 22 years. ;) (and no, I am not going to do PMI stuff *all day*... just part of the day :) )

Took the day off for extra Valentine's time with my hubby - and it turned out to be a very full day! I worked on PMI stuff in the morning and he worked on stuff for Mines. We had a fun lunch at Red Robin with Rannae Sanders Lyon, Mike Rawluk, and our nieces. Then we spent 3 hours wandering around the Home and Garden show at the convention center (lots of cool stuff, saw Kathi from BNI, and Mike got to check out the Tesla Model 3). On the way home, we stopped by to see Auntie Linda and Grandma Kitty (Pat Sanders). Grandma was celebrating what would have been her 72nd wedding anniversary, so lots of reminiscing!

So cute... Muggins is awaiting house keeping services. He had puked on his blanket, so it's in the wash and I am changing his litter. I haven't seen him in the chair before - a mini adventure!

Great trip to Loveland for the Project Management Institute's Tuesday chapter meeting. I may have found a new volunteer for the finance department! !!!! We are doing a reorg to split up the work among more people. (and don't worry... Tiggy wasn't alone in the parking lot the whole time...plenty of company showed up later due to folks at the Budweiser Event Center)
My hubby is fighting with Kindle's AI on the cover for Fuzzy Cat Part 2. As soon as he wins the war, it will be ready for publishing!

waiting for the game to start - go Bruins! (Not being contratian just because I got my undergrad at Mines - I did get a MS EE from UCLA in 2001 :) )

We moved to a section with more comfortable seats for the game - Valerie and Terry in front, Rannae, Maddie, Gwenn, and Mike in the middle row, Daniel and Jarl in the back row

Very fun evening yesterday! Go Val! Go Bruins! We went to the CU women's basketball game in Boulder yesterday, where Valerie's choir sang the national anthem.
.... #gobruins Not to be contrarian since I got my undergrad at Mines - rival school... I got my MS EE at UCLA in 2001. I was so busy in graduate school that this was actually the first Bruins basketball I have seen! Great game! :)
At the first half, I learned Mike has definitely been teaching Maddie about basketball. As the first half came to a close, as " 5 4 3 2 on.... what was that ?!?" as a shot bounced off the backboard. ;)

Good news for Muggins! (Well, better than I expected....) I spoke with vet Jeff. He said the kidney values are not that much higher, but the phosphate levels are very high, which is secondary kidney disease, makes you feel like crap and then cats don't eat. So, he is going to email me a prescription for phosphate binders that I will need to fill at a pharmacy. Hopefully, that will help Mr. Muggins feel like himself.

Mike was busy setting up the dining room now that the stain has set (had to wait 21 days). These are Grandma Buzzo's lamps. My grandpa had bought them in San Francisco a long long time ago, and my parents managed to get them in carry on to bring them to me after my grandma passed away. We didn't have anywhere to display them at the old house, but now they have a great spot!

I was in so much trouble today.... I stole Muggins from his sunbeaming to bring him to the vet. The new tech got to hear him talk. When she said " you're okay" she got a very loud clear "No!" in response. She pulled back and looked at him. He glared back at her. She said, "ok then, not okay. Sorry" He is down to 7.9 pounds. Teeth, temperature, etc. were ok. Blood work will be done Monday. It all ended well....I was able to get him home before today's sunbeaming window closed.
Awkward morning moments... If I pop out of the house with a cheerful hello, I was probably talking to the dog standing near my newspaper. But, um, good morning to the human, too..... ;)

The hedgehog is on vacation. My hubby asked if he should get a lounge chair, some sand, and a tropical drink for him ;) and I got a giant box of chocolates in the mail. Well, not me specifically - they are from the Colorado Convention Center as a thank you for our annual symposium and the PMI Symposium Director said she didn't want them.
Much love and respect to my local coyotes, and apologies to the 5 members of the electric zoo who are still outside. I heard the pack gather at the lake. Such a cool sound - the planning for tonight's hunt. And then they went quiet. I told my hubby I had been standing in the front yard wondering what's worse - hearing the pack or not hearing the pack. So, I kept working on bringing the zoo inside... until I heard the pack much much closer to our house. Yeah, love and respect.... apologies to the remaining 5 zoo members. I will work on bringing them in tomorrow. :) :) :)

Half the zoo is toasty and comfy tonight, and the other half is like, "no, that's cool. Just gonna freeze my paws in the snow"
Went for my first evening walk in the new neighborhood. Found a nice little circle route around some pretty neighborhoods. The stars look so lovely when it is so cold outside. Our new neighborhoods don't have many street lights, so I could see tons of stars... including Orion! (we joke that I am Orion's superfan and kind of stalk him)
The potential buyers who I was kinda hoping were gone forever came back with a less low offer on the house, which we accepted even though it was below our minimum acceptable price.
I hope they are better neighbors than I think they will be, because our old house is in an awesome neighborhood full of truly wonderful people. Closing in planned for next Thursday, Jan 10th.
I can't go back to last August and warn my past self that I was going about the house sale all wrong. :>/ *sigh* Moving on - hoping this is just the bumpy start to a far more fulfilling year!
*fingers crossed*
